Tripp Houck is a singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Midland, Texas. Tripp began playing drums as a toddler but picked up the guitar after his parents took him to see Kiss on their “End of the Road Tour” in Lubbock in March 2020. The experience was life changing and Tripp began playing guitar day in and day out, writing songs and honing his craft. By 2022 Tripp and his dad Todd began hosting open mic nights at Rooster’s Backyard in Greenwood, Texas. Eventually they formed a band called Five Years Apart and began playing gigs at local bars throughout Midland and Odessa.
In 2024, Tripp and Todd began playing gigs with drummer PhilHodges of Roasted Crow under the name Side Effects. Tripp and Todd continued to play acoustic/ patio shows while also playing gigs in a variety of night clubs in the Midland/Odessa area. Also in 2024, Tripp began writing original songs and tapped Thurber T. Mingus of Pumpjack fame as producer of his first five songs. With the guidance of Thurber T. Tripp wove a metal tapestry that is quite impressive. In the summer of 2025, Tripp released his first single, “Shrink of Maine,” a hard-hitting metal tour deforce, that showcases his guitar, drums, bass and vocals skills.
